Palenque-Campeche

Heading from San Christobal to Palenque at 6 am in the morning figured out to be a nasty trip. Sitting with to big Australians *James and Michael* and one Danish *wether Lars or Yannik* in the backrow of a van turned out being very narrow.
The first stop was a water cascade the Agua del Zul were we had a nice swim and pretty good colldown after going into the rainforest which was compared to San Christobal nothing compared to a global warming.
Then we stopped on our way to Palenque at another Casacade, but I already forgot the name. In Palenque we visited the Ruins and were wet from climbing the Pyramids, but it was an impressiv view over the mayan lowland.
Arrived in the city, we rented a Posada with airconditioning with the danish guys and the aussis.

The next morning we all left. I met the two german girls from San Christobal again at the busterminal on our way to Campeche. After a 6 hour bustrip we went to the same hostel. At night we watched a lightshow about the history of Campeche, which is a really nie colonial town.

Today Im leaving for Merida.

San Cristobal de las Casas

I`m arrived in San Cristobal de las Casas after taking a night bus from Puerto Escondido. It was a 12 hour trip, but I slept very well. I met my danish friends at the busterminal and we went to the backbacker hostel, where we met almost everyone we have met before. It`s a small city in Chiapas. After touring the city and buying some new T-shirts (because it`s cheaper to buy new ones instead of washing them..) and a Poncho we spent the night at a campfire and had a couple of beers.

Today me and the danish dynamite went to a canyon where we made a boat trip and saw some alligators. Today also some german girls ( Claudia and Daniela) were in the bus.

San Cristobal is really cold at night so I`m looking forward to go to Palenque tommorow because it`s in the rainforest.

No pictures probalbly till 7th of April because I`m not allowed to connect my camera and upload pictures...

Oaxaca-San Jose del Pacifico-Puerto Escondido

Hola,

I'm doing great, after leaving Mexico City I went to Oaxaca, which is a really beautiful city. I met many people there who are doing the same route as me, and so you meet them all the time at different places.
I visited a natural pool in the mountains ( Hierve del agua), where you had a view over the whole valley of Oaxaca.
I also visited a Tequilla und Mezcal factory there. Back at the Meskalito hostel I met Julie, a guide and she convinced me to travel with her to San Jose del Pacifico. A lost place in the Mountains with a european type of clima. We went to the local village fiest, where the had a basketball tournament going on. The view from our bungalow was awesome.

The next day I connected to a group of travelers that went to Puerto Escondido. I was lucky to get a place at Steves Tower Bridge Hotel. An awesome oasis in the ugly town, but the beaches are very beautiful. Waves so high that you hardly can swim.

Last night we had a barbecue, fish, chips and salad. Vanessa played some brasilian songs on the guitar and everybody was sitting together.

Tonight I'm leaving with tears in my eyes to San Christobal de las Casas.

I'll post pictures again, when I have better internet access.

Mexico City

I'm arrived safely in Mexico City. After an alcoholic night with Kelly in Milwaukees Hofbraeuhaus, I took the Bus from Milwaukee Airport to Chicago O'Hare. My flight with Aeromexico was the best until now because the legroom was the best I ever had, also the Mexicans are so tiny. My hostel is directly in the Center and I have a beautiful view ovr the old ancient innercity. If I'd be a butterfly, I'd just fly..lol

I have two german roommates, that are really nice and they gave me hints for my further travel plannings.

The second day, I went to Teotihuacan. After we made a little citytour to Tlatelolco and la Basilika Guadalupe, we headed to the Pyramids. But before we climbed them, we had a local guy explain us the Agaveplant. We had Pulque, Tequilla and Mescaltequilla. Then we climbed the Pyramids, which are really bigger than I had ever expected.

On our way the travel guid showed us Mexico City and gave us some fried Grashoppers with Lemon to eat, which tasted like potatochips. The Hostel included this tour an a lunch, but the also offer breakfast and dinner in a very high quality.
Overall I'm pretty surprised about the cheap offer.

The third day, I went with Friederike and Ekki to the National Anthropology Museum. We had to make our way through the mexican subway system to the museum. We spent the whole day there and could even have spent more time.
In the evening 5 new roomates joint my place. 4 english girls and one mexican. the mexican is pretty cool, but the english girls smelled really bad. But that doesn't bother me, but Rey the mexican kid from Juarez.

That night Rey figured out we have the same route for the next 4 days and so he talked to some chilenean girls and I met another german girl. Also 3 spanish guys went with us buying some rum, that we had on the rooftop of our hostel, under the eyes from a mexican military guy, that was hiding on the Palacio Gobierno on the other site of the road. We didn/t see him until he used his night binocular, which reflected a little red light. He probably didn't have anything to do.

Today, I went to the Templo Mayor and the Cathedral, which were really nice places. After that I chilled out on the Zocalo and watch aztec tancers and drummers. It's the hottest day so I make siesta right now.
